Nothing like having your upgrade at the gate when you’re #5 for 5 seats for an upgrade. Cheers from 35,000 feet as I’m heading out west for the weekend while enjoying a nice rum and coke onboard Delta.

  1. Gin and tonic was mine. Was unhappily sat earlier in economy plus on ua1627 iah-ord 4:40pm, having watched my name drop from 1 to 4 th place on the upgrades list over last 6 hours. Then, just before the door closed, an fa appeared with my upgrade to biz plus. Certainly made my day. Cheers! Salmon meal was great too, paired with white wine, of course.
Now that’s why I fly butt in seat 100k miles / year in order to retain 1k status! And i only paid 2.2cpm for this ticket today!

  2. Jim is a tool.
I’d probably second the woodfood reserve on the rocks or neat (American). There aren’t any real “premium” alcoholic options on domestic first.
My favorite to order on international is a mimosa made with Dom or Krug just because the stewardess look at me funny when I do that.
