The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) announced today that they will start requiring passengers to remove and place all electronics larger than a cell phone from your bag and have it screened in standard lanes. Think cameras, iPads, tablets, noise-cancelling headphones, kids video games and more! “TSA plans to expand these measures to all U.S. airports during the weeks and months ahead.”
A New Reason To Get TSA Pre-Check
TSA officers will begin to ask travelers toremove electronics larger than a cell phone from their carry-on bags and place them in a bin with nothing on top or below, similar to how laptops have been screened for years.
Travelers enrolled in TSA Pre✓® do not need to remove shoes, 3-1-1 liquids, laptops, electronics, light outerwear, or belts.
If you still need to get access, let American Express pay for Global Entry as a benefit of The Platinum Card® from American Express or The Business Platinum® Card from American Express OPEN. Both cards give you a statement credit every 4 years after you apply for Global Entry ($100) or TSA Pre✔® ($85) with an eligible Card.
If you don’t have TSA Pre✓® I would prepared for some longer screening lines as they roll out this new requirement which will certainly slow things down.
