The Le Parker Méridien New York and the Le Parker Méridien Palm Springs, are two properties that will be leaving the Starwood/Marriott portfolio on January 4, 2018. Both are current SPG category 6 properties, however for those staying after they leave, SPG benefits and night/stay accrual won’t be eligible.
It’s unclear why these two properties are leaving, however a while back there was a lawsuit between Starwood and these hotels, where they were fraudulently reporting higher occupancy rates in order to receive higher redemption rates from Starwood, for members who were staying using Starpoints.
As these are managed properties, hotels must be kept up to the current brand standards, so I wouldn’t be surprised if in order to stay a full room renovation would have been required for these hotels, which the hotels didn’t want to do at this time, so that’s another reason why they may be leaving.

never been to palm springs, but stayed in NYC many times. cool lobby, gym, spa and the burger joint, but rooms in need of refresh and a really annoying “amenity fee”. so not my favorite hotel but the overall SPG portfolio in NYC is pretty lame below the super-high-end hotels. this was a nice option that was cheaper than those but nicer than the westins/sheratons, good bang for buck. SPG/Marriott really needs to step up its game in NYC, and this loss doesn’t help.
Parker’s Palm Springs hotel used to be amazing. I stayed there in 2007, and it was a great experience. When I returned in 2015, i vowed to never return. They shoved us into a crappy room far away, and they acted like the placed was packed. No one was there. Terrible service at the bar. They claimed the nicer restaurant had no openings, but we saw very few people go in. Then we ate in the grill part. Food and service was awful. Never again. Platinum customer here. And in 2015, I had the platinum 75 from stays in 2014. They wouldn’t honor the upgrades.
