The TSA announced that three new airlines would be participating in the TSA Pre-Check program which brings the total airlines to 56. The newest additions include Norwegian Air and Icelandair, and Via Airlines.
We recently covered Why TSA PreCheck Lines Should be Shorter Now thanks to the “PreCheck is PreCheck Act of 2018â€, which would ensure only travelers who are members of a trusted traveler program are permitted to use TSA PreCheck.
Per the TSA,
The Transportation Security Administration announced today the expansion of its TSA Pre✓® expedited screening program to three additional domestic and international carriers. The new partnering airlines now participating are Norwegian Air and Icelandair. Via Airlines will begin participating on November 1. Today’s announcement brings the number of airlines participating in TSA Pre✓® to 56 domestic and international carriers.
As TSA continues to raise the baseline for aviation security globally, these new partnerships increase the trusted traveler population, which improve security and enhance the passenger experience.
TSA Pre✓® is an expedited screening program that enables low-risk travelers to enjoy a smart and efficient screening experience at more than 200 U.S. airports. For TSA Pre✓® travelers, there is no need to remove shoes, laptops, 3-1-1 liquids, belts or light jackets.
There are several credit cards that will reimburse the fee to sign-up for Pre-Check or Global Entry (which gets you Pre-check)including the The Platinum Card® from American Express, Chase Sapphire Reserve, and The Business Platinum® Card from American Express OPEN.
Another option to speed through security is CLEAR. You can enroll for CLEAR then just stop by an airport kiosk the next time you are at a CLEAR airport location.
It’s great to see even more airlines being added to the TSA Pre-check program, however this means more eligible travelers so hopefully this doesn’t mean longer lines at TSA checkpoints for those with Pre-check.

Very impressive but what is the use of precheck if the terminal basically does not allow a precheck line. Yes, it is a bit easier not having to remove shoes etc. but I really prefer the shorter line.

..my spouse and I have Global Entry and thus TSA PreCheck. We were flying on Sept 28 with another couple (on a separate pnr). We were all flying Turkish Airlines business sfo-Ist. We all got TSA PRECHECK ! So how did our traveling companions get it? They are not global entry . Weird
