World of Hyatt has launched new Milestone Rewards beginning March 1, 2019, where members will be able to select new benefits. Essentially, with these new rewards, members will be rewarded for every 10 nights either with a new elite status level or a Milestone Reward.

Notable highlights include 2 club lounge access awards after staying 20 qualifying nights, and 2 suite upgrade awards after staying 50 nights. For those who cross the 40 night threshold, they’ll now receive either 5,000 bonus points, a $100 Hyatt gift card or can save 10,000 points on a FIND experience.

Hyatt explains the new Milestone Rewards as follows:

Beginning March 1, 2019, members will be able to earn Milestone Rewards, an evolution of member benefits that reward members for benchmarks achieved as they travel. In addition to offering members a new benefit option at 40 nights or 65k Base Points, which offers a suite of benefits for members to choose from, we are also breaking out existing benefits associated with the program tier thresholds to award members sooner and more often – both at 20 nights or 35k Base points and at 50 nights or 80k Base Points.

Activity starting January 1, 2019, will count toward earning Milestone Rewards. Members will only earn benefits associated with milestones once per year. For example, if members qualify (or re-qualify) for Explorist or Globalist status in January or February 2019 and have already been awarded certain benefits in 2019 by the time Milestone Rewards start on March 1st, then those benefits will not be granted again in 2019.

With these changes, World of Hyatt is also making a change to Globalist requirements for re-qualifying status. Starting in 2020, members will need to stay 60 qualifying nights (including paid and award nights) to re-qualify for Globalist status, and will no longer re-qualify at 55 nights.

One of the reasons behind this is likely due to the new World of Hyatt Visa, where you earn 2 qualifying night credits after every $5,000 in spend on the card, meaning members can earn elite nights easier. Despite the increase to 60 nights, I do give Hyatt credit for letting members know about this change far in advance. Often we see programs make changes with little or no notice, so World of Hyatt members will be able to plan according with their travel for 2019 in order to re-qualify for Globalist status.

Overall this is positive news from World of Hyatt with the introduction of Milestone Rewards, allowing members to earn suite night awards and club access awards earlier than they currently can. Additionally, you can combine suite upgrade awards and club lounge access awards when redeeming if the suite booked on the suite upgrade award reservation does not already come with club lounge access, as often they do.
