New York City is one of the most competitive U.S. airport markets for several reasons. It’s home to three major airports New York’s John F. Kennedy, LaGuardia, and Newark. Both JFK and LGA are slot restricted, meaning airlines can only offers so many flights to/from those airports, and Newark doesn’t have any more gates.

Delta Air Lines has launched a new promotion for New York City SkyMiles members, where you can earn 10,000 SkyMiles if you book and fly three roundtrip flights between NYC and anywhere before May 28, 2019.

It’s nice to see Delta offer a promotion for their NYC travelers, however what I don’t like is that previously booked flights aren’t eligible. When hotels offer promotions typically previous booked stays would count.

Additionally, 10,000 SkyMiles is worth around $100, so I wouldn’t go out of my way in order to earn this. Now if it were 10,000 bonus Medallion miles that would have been another thing.
