Delta Air Lines is a member of the SkyTeam alliance which has several Europe base airlines. These include Air France, KLM, Alitalia, Aeroflot, Czech Airlines, and Air Europa, and Tarom. With so many partners based on the continent, Delta SkyMiles offer a lot of redemption options.

While Delta no longer publishes an award chart, partner flights have a fixed redemption amount. One-way tickets in economy are 10,000 or 15,000 SkyMiles and business class is 25,000 plus taxes and fees. These taxes and fees can range from approximately $25 US and can vary depending on countries and airline.

When redeeming an intra-Europe award ticket, its best to pick a departure or destination that functions as a SkyTeam hub. For Europe SkyTeam airlines, this would include Paris (CDG), Amsterdam (AMS), Rome (FCO), Moscow (SVO), Prague (PRG), Madrid (MAD), and Bucharest (BBU). To book an award flight with Delta SkyMiles, first visit and click the “Advanced Search” dropdown.

Enter the departure and arrival airport code and select one-way to make finding availability easier. Enter a desired date of travel, but the calendar will show multiple days. Having flexibly when redeeming award miles is critical. Delta’s award calendar is helpful to see a variety of flight options on a single page.  Additionally, make sure to select “Miles to show price in (“Money” will likely result in no results)

Select the preferred travel day to see a full list of flight options for that day. The results will display in miles and the taxes in fees in the currency of the departure airport. It’s important to note that European Business class is noticeable different than First Class found on most US legacy airlines. The seats are typically standard economy seats with the middle seat blocked. The inflight offering and service will vary depending on the length of the flight and the airline.

Determine which class of service and flight time is most convenient for your travel. Available times and class of service will differ based on route, airline, and the season of travel.

The final screen will display a summary with the trip details. Make sure to check all the flight details before continuing the redemption process. All Delta Air Lines tickets have a 24-hour cancellation policy should you need to make an immediate change. A nice benefit of elite status with SkyMiles is that Diamond and Platinum Medallions can cancel an award redemption with no penalty up to 72 hours before departure.

If you’re looking to redeem your Delta SkyMiles for flights within Europe, we recommend using the Juicy Miles award booking service, who can help you redeem for the lowest amount of miles while searching availability on partner airlines.
