For those who have been following the Grand Hyatt New York Redevelopment, some exciting news as the hotel that we all currently love will be open through at least July 31, 2022. There were talks initially that it would be closing as early as next year, but Hyatt has confirmed it’s staying open a bit longer.

There are plans to redevelop the hotel, as there will be a new 2 million square foot mixed used development with a brand new Grand Hyatt hotel, however based on this lates update, we won’t see any changes for about 3 years.

Per Hyatt,

As redevelopment plans continue on schedule for a new Grand Hyatt New York, the luxury hotel is pleased to confirm that it will continue accepting reservations through at least July 31, 2022. 

The proposed redevelopment project, in collaboration with TF Cornerstone, MSD Partners and RXR Realty, would replace the existing Grand Hyatt New York and create an iconic 2-million-square-foot mixed-use development, including a new luxury Grand Hyatt hotel, world-class office and retail space, new public open space and dramatic improvements to the public transportation infrastructure in the Grand Central Terminal transit complex. 

Hyatt is working closely with TF Cornerstone, MSD Partners and RXR Realty on the planning and design for this iconic Grand Hyatt New York project. Further details regarding the proposed redevelopment will be shared as soon as they become available.

The Grand Hyatt is Hyatt’s flagship property in New York City, however Hyatt recently acquired the Parker New York, which is their newest Hyatt in the city, which will be transformed into a Thompson hotel once it’s fully renovated.

  1. Grand Hyatt is one of Hyatt’s worst NYC properties. Seriously? The two Andaz properties are both lovely. Park Hyatt NYC would be their most high end NYC property. They have several newer properties that are nice options. But GHNYC is a pit. I don’t know a lot of globalists who will be happy to hear it’s staying in it’s current form even longer. I would happily stay at pretty much any other Hyatt in NY before I experience GH NYC again. Bulldozers can’t come soon enough.

  2. Surprised the GHNY is closing Have been going their for years for my company’s annual event nothing but positive things to say. The rooms are a little small but nicely done. Best location in you can asked for in NYC

  3. After 40 years with this company I would love to have a couple of months more of working for the Hyatt it’s been an honor and a pleasure to be an employee at the grand Hyatt
