Here’s something you don’t expect to happen when you take a flight — getting stung by a scorpion. Earlier this week, an United Airlines passenger flying from San Francisco to Atlanta was stung by the arachnida.

a scorpion on the ground

Per TMZ,

A rep from United responded to the claim, saying, “After learning that one of our customers on flight 1554 from San Francisco to Atlanta was stung during flight, our crew responded immediately and consulted with a MedLink physician on the ground who provided medical guidance. Upon landing in Atlanta, the flight was met by medical personnel and the customer was transported to a local hospital. We have been in contact with our customer to ensure her wellbeing.”

While painful, scorpion stings are rarely deadly, however the passenger was taken to the hospital upon arriving in Atlanta. It’s not clear on how early on during the flight the passenger was stung, but I would imagine it must of been toward the ends, as the flight didn’t divert, which seems like it may of had it happened earlier.

  1. It’s just a matter of time, given the propensity of rednecks to deny climate change and continue eating farting cows, that humans are going to be eating insects for meals.
