The Thompson Washington D.C. is the newest full service Hyatt property in Washington D.C. The hotel is located in the up and coming Navy Yard area, which is right by the Washington Nationals stadium, and has tons of restaurants and bars nearby. As the property had recently opened just a few weeks ago, it was pretty quiet this past weekend.

The Thompson Washington D.C. has 225 guest rooms and suites and recently and is a World of Hyatt Category 5 property, meaning free night awards start at 20,000 points per night.

As a Globalist, I was welcomed upon check-in by a friendly front desk agent, and informed I was upgraded to a Corner King guest room.

Bottom Line

Overall I enjoyed my stay at the Thompson Washington D.C. and would recommend the hotel if you’re looking to stay in Navy Yard district. One of the highlights of staying here is the hotel’s Anchovy Social rooftop, which offers great city views.

The guest rooms are spacious and modern, given that the property just opened. Additionally, this was my first time staying at a Thompson hotel, and I’d compare it to a more understated Andaz stay.
