In the midst of the pandemic, the W Atlanta – Buckhead has been rebranded as Hotel Colee, part of Marriott’s Autograph Collection. This actually happened a few months ago, however I didn’t realize this until now.

What’s interesting about this re-flagging is that W Atlanta – Buckhead was actually a nice hotel and seemed to be maintained to W’s standards. We’ve seen other W’s being re-flagged to other Marriott properties, but usually it’s a case the property is getting old and the owners don’t wish to spend money to renovate, which was the case of the original W New York.

Looking at the pictures, the hotel looks very similar to when it was the W Buckhead, with some minor changes to furniture from what I can tell. In fact, the rooftop Whiskey Blue bar still operates as part of Hotel Colee, so even this didn’t change.

There’s currently still two other W Hotels in Atlanta which are the W Atlanta – Downtown and the W Atlanta – Midtown. This isn’t the first W in Atlanta to get re-branded. Some may recall the W Atlanta- Perimeter which changed years ago to the Le Méridien Atlanta Perimeter.

Additionally, the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead was rebranded to The Whitley, a Luxury Collection Hotel just a few years ago.

The W Atlanta – Buckhead rebranded as Hotel Colee under Marriott’s Autograph Collection a few months back, however it doesn’t appear much has changed as part of the rebranding. For instance in the hotel photos on the website, you can still see Bliss bath amenities in the guest bathrooms, which I can’t imagine are still being used.

Hotel Colee is a Marriott Category 5 property with free night awards starting at 35,000 points per night for a standard award.

What do you make of the W Atlanta – Buckhead being re-branded as the Hotel Colee? Feel free to share your thoughts in the comments below.

  1. Unless they did some major room remodeling and are enforcing the no smoking and no weed smoking in the hotel it’s certainly not worthy of Cat 5
