For some reason we are very excited about our Air France flight in business class. We don’t love their slanted lie at an angle business class seat but it’s still exciting because we are trying something new. We are flying our first A380 just in time to get to the SMD4 kickoff event.
Last month we had the opportunity to fly in Delta’s new lie flat seats. We really liked how they were truly lie flat. But when we had an opportunity to fly it again or try something new, we went with something new.
Air France has the slanted lie flat seats, and we’ve found them adequate on previous flights but by no means exceptional. You sometimes get the sliding down effect when fully reclined. So we typically recline all the way and then back up into a slight craddle position to avoid the sliding down effect.

I flew twice on AF A380 (YUL-CDG) last month. The takeoff from YUL was the smoothest I’ve ever experienced — in fact I thought we were only doing about 80 when I saw the front lift up from the tail camera.
I sat in an middle aisle seat in the front business section for both legs. Very spacious cabin, with a huge lavatory at the front of the plane. Experienced AF’s angled seat for 7 long flights now — don’t get the sliding feeling, and I don’t mind it because my head is elevated.
Enjoy the experience.

2A, of course! Well, if I’m travelling alone… (otherwise 2E/2F). SeatGuru is wrong – 1A doesn’t actually wrap at the nose of the plane. Instead, it’s off on it’s lonesome.. 2A would be great – it’s the first class (La Premiere) seat that’s farthest from the stairs, lav & next cabin.
2A to be away from the lavatories. But since I can’t afford first class, I’ll stick with 61E because I get a full screen, have easy access to the aisle (as does my seatmate to my right), and it’s easier for a lefty.
I’ve flown on an Air France A380 from IAD to CDG. For those of us on a budget, upper deck in one of the back rows is a great choice. I’ve sat in A row 89 aisle seat (89G on Air France’s A380 version #2). It was nice to be somewhat near the galley and lavatories, AND the curving staircase heading to the lower deck!
I’d be in the back somewhere, iPad in hand and ambien on the ready.

Hi Matt – Sweet. What do you think of the first row? I tried 62 B aisle and thought the smaller cabin was great.
Always like the smaller cabins.
First row is pretty good. Smaller, pop-up ife screen conpared to other rows. More room for feet. How far do other row footrests extend – had way more than enough room, same seat on CIO bulkhead was slightly tight. Fa can set table, provide service, etc from front rather than side when neither person is reclined too far. At specific angles the led floor lights in the “gallery” are not consistently blocked by the front curtain. Storage bins on side especially welcome when in bulkhead.
I’d probably select them again, or maybe the bathroom side equivalents, depending on the specific flight.
Hi Matt – I was concerned about the front row foot rest so am glad to see it wasn’t a problem. The ife also looked smaller than the other seats behind.
As far as the other seat foot space, it was plentiful. I am 6’1″ and could stretch out completely.
