After a fantastic flight in Delta’s new lie-flat Business Class, I quickly passed through customs and headed for the taxi line. The taxi ride would only take about 20 minutes, but I had to get passed the taxi stand line first. It was a warm summer so I was eager to get into a cool taxi. I waited about a half hour before my quick taxi ride into the city center.

Cool Looking Building
Before I knew it, our taxi pulled up in front of the Marriott. The Marriott check-in process was quick. I had gold status at the time of booking so I was offered club lounge access. No upgrade was offered or available once I inquired. I had a small (by U.S. standards) room on the top floor.
One of my favorite things about Marriott is the consistency. The room was spot on clean and fresh. The bed linens were comfy and soft. Even the desk felt familiar. There is just something smart about having a plug next to the night stand. So many times I’ve searched only to have to plug in my phone across the room. That wasn’t the case at this Marriott. I was able to find a plug near the bed to get fully charged at night.
The bathroom was again small but functional. I did notice the bathroom products were different than I’ve seen in the past at Marriott. Perhaps they’ve got a different product, but I wouldn’t know as this was my first stay at a Marriott in Europe.
A Little Bit Of Brussels
One of the best tips I’ve ever received on how to beat jet lag is to get out and explore the area. Moving my feet in the day light helps me adjust to a new time zone. The area around the Marriott was easy to explore and was likely one of the more busy areas due to the sights and pubs nearby.

The night scene near the Marriott was very different than the day time. After dark the area became much busier, especially on a night in the middle of the week.
One of the sights nearby was the Mannekin Pis, otherwise known as the le Petit Julien.
Belgium is known for chocolate. It would have been a bad move to leave without chocolates for Mrs Weekly Flyer. So I picked up a box of assorted chocolates before leaving for Paris on the TGV.
Bottom Line
The Marriott hotel is in a central location that is easy for walking around town. We will likely return to this hotel next time we visit Brussels.
Brussels is a lovely town. Sometimes it gets a bad rap, but we had a great time tasting all the good food and drink the Belgians had to offer.

Did you notice any issues with the traffic from airport to center of Brussels due to the NATO construction? 20 minutes doesn’t seem bad at all.

Hi Nice! – No issues with traffic on the way into the city. We left from the train station so can’t comment from a return.
HI Jamison – They were excellent. The best way to enjoy the frites in my opinion, is to dip one into a little mayo and enjoy.
