Delta offers a superior Bourbon in-flight, but they also charge a superior price. Coming in at $7 for a 50 ml mini bottle, the Woodford Reserve is not an inexpensive in-flight drink option. But it sure is a tasty one.
To help one lucky reader with the high costs, we ran a giveaway to provide one lucky winner with a Delta in-flight coupon and a set of Points, Miles & Martinis cocktail napkins for their drink to rest comfortably.
To enter, all you had to do was a leave a comment in the official Happy Hour Basics post answering the following question:
- How many mini Woodford Reserve bottles does it take to fill a Giant Woodford Reserve bottle?
- Extra credit: What’s a good drink to make with Bourbon?
Breakeven On Woodford Reserve Mini Bottle
As many of you know, the large Woodford reserve bottles are 1.75 liters. And anyone who has ordered a Woodford Reserve from Delta’s “Eats” menu knows that a mini-bottle is only 50 milliliters.
Given that 1.75 liters = 1,750 milliliters, it would take 35 mini Woodford Reserve bottles to fill a large one. The cost of the mini bottle is $7 on a Delta flight and the cost of a large bottle is about $60 at your local store.
The break even on the cost of a large bottle, you would only have to purchase a 8 mini bottles and split a 9th with a friend to have the same cost as a large bottle. If you went with mini’s instead, 26.5 bottles would be straight profit** making the cost of a large bottle $245.
To bad you can bring your large bottle on the plane in your briefcase. Until then, I’ll continue using Delta’s Have One On Us certificates or these in-flight coupons earned through Delta SkyBonus program to enjoy free mini bottles of Woodford Reserve on Delta flights.
