Virgin America launched a new promotion this week in which fliers can earn up to 10,000 bonus points when they fly on one of their transcontinental flights.

Register now to earn up to 10,000 bonus points when you take off on round-trip transcontinental flights between San Francisco (SFO) or Los Angeles (LAX) and select east coast cities.

To qualify, register and book by March 31, 2014, and complete your travel by April 9, 2014, to earn bonus points for every qualifying round-trip. The great thing is that this applies to prior reservations that have been made.

How It Works:

STEP 1
Register now to earn bonus Elevate points. If you’re not already an Elevate member, join now.

STEP 2
Book a seat in any cabin on eligible transcontinental routes by March 31, and complete your travel by April 9, 2014.

STEP 3
Use your bonus points toward reward trips with no blackout dates on Virgin America, or reward flights with one of our airline partners.

To determine how many bonus points you’ll earn look at the chart below which is based on the cabin you book. If booking into the main cabin you’ll earn 2,500 points all the way up to 10,000 points for a first class refundable ticket.

The routes that this is valid for are from Los Angeles to Newark; New York (JFK); Philadelphia; and Washington-Dulles, as well as from San Francisco to  Newark; New York (JFK); Philadelphia; and Washington-Dulles; and Washington- Reagan.

Bookings must be made in a qualifying revenue booking class in Main Cabin (H,E,U,M,I,L,S,N), Main Cabin Refundable (Y,B,V), Instant Upgrade to Main Cabin Select (Q,Z), Main Cabin Select (W), First Class (C,D) First Class Refundable (J), paid upgrades to Main Cabin Select (R) and paid upgrades to First Class (G, X) for nonstop or connecting travel completed between January 29, 2014 and April 9, 2014 and between the following cities: Los Angeles (LAX) or San Francisco (SFO) and New York (JFK), Newark (EWR), Philadelphia (PHL), Washington Reagan National (DCA) and Washington Dulles (DCA). Complimentary upgrades to Main Cabin Select for Elevate Gold or Elevate Silver members will earn bonus reward points according to the Main Cabin ticket purchased. Only tickets that are ticketed on a Virgin America prefix (‘VX’) and operated on Virgin America will qualify for this offer subject to these terms. Thru-flights are excluded from this offer. Bonus Points will be posted to the member’s account within 4-6 weeks after qualifying flights are flown. Half the bonus points will be posted for qualifying one-way travel, or for each qualifying segment on mixed cabin itineraries. Any changes or cancellations might result in disqualification from the offer. All travel not normally eligible for earning reward points, including Elevate reward bookings, are excluded from this offer. Bonus reward points earned in this offer do not qualify towards Elevate Gold or Elevate Silver status. 

Bottom Line

If you’re planning to fly Virgin America on one of these transcontinental routes, be sure to register for this promotion. While Virgin America Elevate points aren’t the most lucrative currency out there, adding a few thousand bonus ones to your account is a nice addition.
