The competition between Delta and Alaska Airlines continues to heat up as, Delta announced today that they would be slashing some elite benefits for Alaska Airlines MVP members, and Alaska would be cutting benefits for Delta Medallions as well.
Starting May 1, 2014, Delta and Alaska Airlines will cut some some of the mutual benefits that Alaska Airlines MVP and Delta SkyMiles Medallion members currently receive.
Alaska MVP, MVP Gold, and MVP Gold 75K members will no longer receive priority baggage, priority security, baggage fee waivers, Sky Priority boarding or discounted Economy Comfort when flying Delta.
However, Alaska MVP, MVP Gold, and MVP Gold 75K members will still recieve priority check-in, preferred seating, and be eligible for complimentary
Alaska Airlines is also cutting benefits for Delta Medallions.
Delta Medallions flying Alaska Airlines will no longer receive preferred security or baggage fee waivers.
The following benefits will remain the same based on status when flying Alaska Airlines.
Silver Medallion Members will continue to enjoy priority boarding and Diamond, Platinum and Gold Medallion members will still receive complimentary upgrades, priority boarding, preferred seats, and priority check-in.

Now would be a great time to merge Frontier and Alaska also but that’s just a weird opinion I’ve had for awhile.
Great…just bought 006 stock tickets for travel on AS in June this past weekend. As a Silver was at leat going to get a free bag (as I would on DL). Now nothing? The DL language says for tickets purchased prior to 4/30, but do not see anything about the AS change for DL elites having a date.
