On the heels of Delta’s announcement today, American Airlines also made an announcement that they will be investing $2 Billion in their fleet in order to increase passenger’s productivity as well as our comfort! Sounds good to me!
American Airlines Announces $2 Billion Investment
Here is the list of items that they will be improving:
- 500 new planes
- Revamped Lounges
- Powerports at every seat
- New lie-flat seats in Business class (select planes) -including all retro-fitted 777-200 aircraft, plus select 757s and 767-300s.

With all the competition to be the best, this can only mean better experiences and product offerings for travelers!

What are the 500 new planes and when will they be delivered?
When I first saw the email, I thought the subject was “We’re investing $28 in your travel experience.” I was puzzled until I realized that the folks who had written the email were young enough not to need reading glasses, hip enough to be using Wall Street banker talk, and ballsy enough to claim to be making a “$2B investment” just for my traveling pleasure.
