It’s the end of the year again and some folks are itching and scratching for some more Delta Medallion Qualifying Miles. For those of you that aren’t as familiar, these “MQMs” are those miles which qualify toward year end status. So if you are working towards Delta Platinum status or any other Delta Elite status, any extra MQMs help you get to the status threshold.

We’ve compiled a simple list of the different ways to earn Delta MQMs at year end to help you achieve the desired status.

Four Ways To Earn Delta MQMs To Earn Status

1. Earn Delta MQMs With Hilton Stays

You can earn a maximum of 10,000 MQMs with eligible Hilton stays prior to December 20, 2014. Now there is not a lot of time left to earn with this promotion, but there’s still some time. So this could work for you.

Four Ways To Earn Delta MQMs To Earn Status

Make sure you select Delta as your preferred Double Dip® Points & Miles™ Partner in your HHonors profile.

Terms and Conditions: For qualifying stays at Home2 Suites by Hilton™ hotels, earn 1 bonus mile for every US dollar spent up to 100 bonus miles per qualifying stay + 250 Medallion Qualification Miles (MQMs). For all other Hilton Worldwide brands, earn 1 bonus mile for every US dollar spent on a qualifying stay + 250 MQMs. A maximum of 10,000 MQMs can be earned through this offer. Offer void where prohibited by law. Offer subject to change without notice.

2. Earn Delta MQMs with the Delta Reserve Credit Card from American Express – See current Airline card offers here.

You can earn 10,000 Medallion® Qualification Miles (MQMs) and 10,000 bonus miles after making a first purchase on your new Card. So if you apply for the Delta Reserve Credit Card from American Express and make your first purchase, you can have an additional 10,000 MQMs deposited to your account.

If you then spend $30,000 on the card in a calendar year, you can earn what’s called a miles boost, which gives you 15,000 bonus miles and 15,000 MQMs each calendar year when you spend $30,000 on the card. And if you make a total of $60,000 in eligible purchases you will earn an additional 15,000 bonus miles and 15,000 MQMs each calendar year.

There is also a business version of the Delta Reserve Credit Card from American Express which you can get  by clicking the link and then clicking the area of the page illustrated in the picture below. If you also get the business version, it comes with what I believe are great benefits AND a great bonus MQM offer.

3. Earn Delta MQMs with the Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express

You can earn 5,000 Medallion® Qualification Miles (MQMs) and 35,000 bonus miles after you spend $1,000 in purchases on your new Card in your first 3 months. So if you apply for the Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express and make your first purchase, you can have an additional 5,000 MQMs deposited to your account. Plus, you’ll earn a $100 statement credit after you make a Delta purchase with your new Card within your first 3 months.

If you then spend $25,000 on the card in a calendar year, you can earn a miles boost, which gives you 10,000 bonus miles and 10,000 MQMs after you spend $25,000 or more in eligible purchases on your Card in a calendar year. And if you make a total of $50,000 or more in eligible purchases on your card in a calendar year you can earn an additional 10,000 bonus miles and 10,000 MQMs.

There is also a business version of the Platinum Delta SkyMiles® Credit Card from American Express which you can get  by clicking the link and then clicking the area of the page illustrated in the picture below. If you also get the business version, it comes with what I believe are great benefits AND a great bonus MQM offer.

4. Double Delta MQMs On Flights To / From Seattle (For “Washington Residents”)

Delta is running a promotion where you can earn double miles plus double Medallion Qualifying miles to/from Seattle for the rest of the year. However, it is targeted to residents who live in Washington so your miles may very if you try to register for it.

Book and fly Delta or Delta Connection®-marketed and -operated flights from Seattle (SEA) by December 31, 2014, and we’ll award you double miles and double Medallion® Qualification Miles (MQMs) on the nonstop segment out of or into Seattle (SEA). The more you fly the more you earn—it’s unlimited!

Bottom Line

I like my Delta Platinum status that gets me unlimited space available upgrades to First Class, unlimited complimentary economy comfort (now Comfort +), unlimited award redeposit fees, complimentary checked baggage and much more. So if I was short on MQMs this year (which I’m not because I’ve earned 60k MQMs the easy way again) I’d consider some of the options above.

Comments

  1. Will sign-up bonus MQM’s for Business Reserve card post with enough time with only 3wks left this year?

  2. If already hold several Amex cards, will this preclude me from receiving the MQMs from the Delta Reserve? I currently have Delta Gold, Platinum Delta Business, and regular Amex Platinum.

  3. Hi Al – In my experience (YMMV) the MQMs have posted about 4-5 days after the first purchase. If you ask Amex, they will expedite the card to you, so you can have the card in a few days or even over night after approval. Hope that helps.
