I’ve been a long-time SPG Platinum member, usually qualifying on nights, so it was no surprise to me when I qualified last year as a SPG 50 Platinum member, as I’m on a goal for lifetime Platinum status. Sure the Starwood Preferred Guest Credit Card from American Express helps by giving me 2 stays and 5 night credits per year, but the rest is all earned the hard way.
Anyways, a few days ago I received a package from Starwood, which turned out to be a box of chocolate thanking me for my loyalty for last year.
Inside the box was 12 truffles, with a description of each one.
Sorry for the missing the truffle, which I ate, before deciding to take a picture to blog about the SPG Platinum gift. I talked to some other SPG Platinum members, even some with Ambassadors who did not receive any gift like this, so I consider myself fortunate that Starwood decided to send me this small token of their appreciation for my loyalty.
I’m very pleased with the gift, and can’t wait to eat the rest of the truffles, but I ask you, did anyone else receive a gift from Starwood for their loyalty last year, and if so what status did you earn?
According to this Flyertalk thread, it does appear that some others also received the same gift.
Feel free to share in the comments below!
I’m a Platinum (and Lifetime Gold) member, and I received the same gift as well. I have qualified based on stays, not nights, for the past 2 years. I was at 30 stays and 46 nights last year (and since the 50 night gifts are of little value, it wasn’t worth doing a mattress run since I qualified for Platinum anyway.)
SPG Platinum 75. Multi-year. No such gift.
No gift. Life time gold, 5 year platinum.
I received it, and so did my dad. I have SPG Platinum 50 (Lifetime Gold), and my dad has no status and no stays in the last year.
Gold. No gift but that’s not surprising.
Received the same gift last year. Nothing so far this year.
Lifetime platinum and got it! Nice surprise (never got anything like it from Marriott, so is this the last treat??)
got it. Plat on stays in 2015 – 66. lifetime gold. It was a nice treat!
Not related to the Platinum status but related to the credit card. My guess is has something to do with how many years you’ve had the card. My wife (no SPG status) got the same box a couple weeks ago (they were delicious!).

Seems inconsistent in how they arrived at who to send the gift. Platinum, Lifetime Gold and Starwood Amex Card Holder.
