One of my favorite perks with my American Express Platinum Card is the Fine Hotels and Resorts program, where you can choose from a selection of luxury properties such as the Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch and receive a bunch of perks throughout your stay.
As a reminder, benefits include:
- Noon check-in, when available
- Room upgrade upon arrival, when available (usually suite upgrades)
- Daily breakfast for two people
- Guaranteed 4pm late check-out
- In-room Wi-Fi
- A unique property benefit (such as a $100 hotel credit or $100 dining credit)
The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch is located in Avon, Colorado which is about 2 hours outside of Denver. You can easily rent a car from Denver to drive up, or there are several companies that provide shuttle service as well. Another option is to fly directly into Eagle County Airport, which is only 25 minutes away from the resort.
I reserved a room with two double beds with club access, and was upgraded to a mountain view slope side double which offered great views of the ski resort.
Spacious room with two double beds
Desk in center of the room
Bathroom had a single vanity with a separate shower and tub
View from the room was directly out to the mountain
As well as overlooking the swimming pool and hot tubs
The hotel had a decent sized gym, but everyone was out skiing so remained empty most of the stay.
Right out side of the property is the Bachelor Gulch lift
Located on the 8th floor is the hotel’s Club Lounge for those with club level access. The club is great option if you’re gonna be around the resort for most of your stay as they offer several food and beverage presentations throughout the day. Below is the schedule:
- Continental Breakfast 7 to 10 a.m.
- Lunch 12 to 2 p.m.
- Light Snacks 2 to 4 p.m.
- Hors d’Oeuvres 5 to 7 p.m.
- Dessert and Cordials 8 to 10 p.m.
Breakfast was a great continental breakfast spread and even included a few hot items each morning as well as mimosas.
Breakfast spread was delicious
Breakfast in the club
Evening appetizers were plentiful
They even had three hot options per night as well
Desserts in the evening
Another highlight was the hotel facilities including the outdoor pool with three hot tubs as well as the spa facilities which guests have access to including the indoor grotto pool.
The grotto pool was great after all day on the slopes.
In addition, in each locker room there was another hot tub, cold plunge pool, steam room, and sauna.
Breakfast was served in Buffalo’s each morning, and booking through Fine Hotels and Resorts meant it included two buffets each morning.

Overall, the Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch did not disappoint as its a great ski resort option in Colorado. Another great feature is that they offer shuttle service around the area so you can take complimentary shuttles to Beaver Creek if you want to go to the village.
The hotel has a ski rental shop, where you can rent skis, boots, and any gear you may need, as well as a lift ticket shop. The hotel provides ski storage has ski concierges who will help you get your gear on each day and will store it for you overnight.
