American Express is out with 2 great increased offers on both the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express and the Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express (publicly offered.) Both of these offers are for a limited time and can earn you 40% more sign up bonus points then the normal offer. On both cards the $95 annual fee is waived for the first year. The official terms of the offers say that if you have had these cards before you can not get the bonus again. So, these offers are for folks who have not had the card/s before. And yes, you can get both cards! Terms Apply. Offer ends 04/05/2017. EXPIRED

With the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express you get 25,000 bonus Starpoints after spending $3,000 within 3 months. You will also earn an additional 10,000 bonus Starpoints for spending another $2,000 within 6 months, for a total of 35,000 bonus Starpoints! The normal offer is 40% less points then this, usually 25k Starpoints on the sign up.

With the Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express you get 25,000 bonus Starpoints after spending $5,000 within 3 months. You will also earn an additional 10,000 bonus Starpoints for spending another $3,000 within 6 months, for a total of 35,000 bonus Starpoints, again 40% more points then the normal offer of 25k Starpoints!

Remember, Starpoints are valuable and made more so by the Marriott Starwood merger last year. You can transfer 1 Starpoints to 3 Marriott points.

Both the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express and the Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express have Return Protection, one of my favorite Amex benefits. Both cards will also give you access to awesome Amex Offers for You.

There are no foreign transaction fees on either these Starwood cards.

Don’t forget that having the Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express is a great way to receive club level access at Sheraton Hotels and Resorts and in my opinion the easiest way!

Are you a Sole Proprietor?

You don’t have to have a big business to have a business card. If you have a small business, (for example, even if you sell on eBay or rent your house out on AirBnB) you don’t need an EIN to apply for a Business card, you can use your Social Security number instead and put down that that you are a sole proprietor.

Bottom Line

These are definitely offers worth considering if you or your business have not had these cards before. The increased sign up offers on the Starwood Preferred Guest® Credit Card from American Express and the Starwood Preferred Guest® Business Credit Card from American Express are only available for a limited time. Terms Apply. Offer ends 04/05/2017.

If you are concerned about hitting the minimum spends on these cards to get the sign up bonuses, remember that you Can Pay Your Taxes With A Credit Card which may make sense for you.
