Back in 2015,  IHG Completed their Acquisition Of Kimpton Hotels.

Then not much else happened except that I looked into the Top 7 Kimpton Hotels I’d like To Use IHG Points at.Today, IHG has announced that they will finally roll Kimpton Karma Rewards into IHG Rewards Club to combine into one program in early 2018.

Kimpton Karma Rewards will roll into IHG® Rewards Club and become one program in early 2018 with a single reward points system. All the special magic of Kimpton Karma will remain, which means you’ll continue to experience the personalized recognition and perks you love when you check into a Kimpton hotel.

Your new IHG® Rewards Club tier will be based on the Kimpton Karma tier earned by December 31, 2017. Tier 1 becomes Club, Tier 2 becomes Gold Elite…you get the gist. Inner Circle members will become Spire Elite while maintaining their Inner Circle status at Kimpton Hotels. Your new IHG Rewards Club tier will be recognized across any of IHG’s 12 global hotel brands, including Kimpton® Hotels & Restaurants, InterContinental® Hotels & Resorts, Indigo®, Holiday Inn®, Holiday Inn Express®, Holiday Inn® Resort, Holiday Inn Club Vacations®, HUALUXE® Hotels & Resorts, EVEN® Hotels, Staybridge Suites®, Candlewood Suites®, and Crowne Plaza®.

How many points for a Free Night at a Kimpton?

Point values will vary by hotel and by room type and are based on time of year, location and other factors, but generally the range to redeem a free night at Kimpton will be 40,000 – 70,000 points. Read more in this FAQ.

Bottom Line

This will certainly be a game changer as I’m sure many people will be interested in redeeming IHG points to stay with Kimpton. I am definitely interested in IHG points a little more now that I can use them at Kimpton properties! How about you?

  1. Kimpton loyalists are gonna be pissed. IHG members, however, should be quite pleased. No more 15,000 point Holiday Inn Expresses. More Kimptons please.
    Oh, and cue the IHG card annual fee going up as well. Someone’s gotta pay for those free nights.
