According to Marriott Insider’s there are 2 new changes in store for the Marriott program starting in 2018. First, 2017 is the final year for Elite Rollover Nights and Status Buy Back.
Second, beginning in 2018, Marriott is introducing new Hertz benefits for their top tier members.
Let’s take a look at these changes below.
2 New Marriott Changes For 2018 And Beyond
2017 is the final year for Elite Rollover Nights and Status Buy Back. This means any 2017 nights earned in excess of Elite requirements will roll over toward 2018 status, but excess nights earned in 2018 will not roll over toward 2019 status.
We’re introducing new Hertz benefits for our top tier members! Beginning in early 2018, Platinum members can register to receive Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Five Star® Status, and Platinum Premier members can register to receive Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Presidents Circle® Status.
What is the Elevated Hertz Status Offer?
Marriott Rewards Platinum Elite members will receive:
- Complimentary Hertz Gold Plus Rewards Five Star status (registration required)
Marriott Rewards Platinum Premier Elite members will receive:
- Complimentary Hertz Gold Plus Rewards President’s Circle status (registration required)
Bottom Line
Basically, the biggest change announced here is that nothing will change with regard to 2017 nights rolling into 2018, but your extra nights in 2018 will not roll over to help you in 2019. The Hertz deal isn’t overly exciting to me. If you have The Platinum Card® from American Express, when you become a Gold Plus Rewards member, you’ll automatically receive Five Star status.
