The time is now to start thinking about Summer tickets to Europe if you are in the market. Last week I mentioned how good availability was for Business Class seats on the LOT 787 Dreamliner TO Europe. Another new and promising option to hop across the pond is on Austrian Airlines featuring their brand new Business Class seat.
The new Austrian Airlines Business Class seats are fully flat and look like an excellent product. In the summer from the US, Austrian is scheduled to have the new Business Class seats for flights from Vienna to Chicago, Washington Dulles and JFK. A one way Business Class award ticket runs 50,000 miles on United.
After I bit of tinkering around, I can report availability over the summer is pretty darn good for up to 4 business class seats per flight from Vienna to the three US destination cities. Austrian Airlines naturally has good intra-Europe flights for connections depending on where you want to end up.
Unlike the LOT 787 which is showing a lot of space in one direction, availability on Austrian is great in both directions.
JFK on the 777
Washington Dulles on the 767
Chicago O’Hare on the 767
The bottom line
I booked this new Business Class product for a summer trip to the Hungarian Formula One Grand Prix this year in Budapest. This, along with the LOT 787 Dreamliner are excellent opportunities to get to Europe this summer in style. Act now before space fills up!
Last month I booked 4 reward tickets on same flights for my family of 4 in business on Austrian in July. JFK-VIE-KRK open jaw MUC-VIE stopover JFK. Easiest reward flights I’ve ever booked. I had my choice of days
Hi,
Which website did you use to book your tickets.
Thanks.
My wife and I are going to Budapest this summer also and we have never been there before. If you have any suggestions on where to, or not to, stay and things to do I would appreciate any information you or your readers can send me. Thanks for all the useful info and keep up the great work!
Can you book either of these airlines with united award miles?
@chris It appears you can since both United and Austrian are part of the Star alliance.
Still, I’d like to read more about how one actually does that. Is it as simple as finding award space (how?) and calling United to make the booking?
It doesn’t appear you can book using United’s website. Maybe can by calling them. Does have experience with this and possibly getting saver fares?
@Vamsi/chris/Flyerm -I booked my flights using 50000 United miles. I ran into a snag and had to use a trick to complete the booking. I will post the trick soon. Stay tuned.
@Chuck – It’ll be my first time too but I will pass along what I find out.
