Good morning from the British Airways Concorde Room in London Heathrow.
The Concorde Room is arguably one of the best club lounges in the world. Some of the coolest things about the club include booking a spa appointment or reserving a private cabana during your visit.
Knowing this is one of the best lounges in the world, it was a real treat to get to visit earlier than I thought. You see, I was on an American Airlines First Class award traveling onto a British Airways connecting flight. This should have allowed me to access the Galleries First Class lounge, but I was accosted at the front entrance and embarassed by the check in clerk in front of at least 5 people. There was no point in arguing. She was not going to let us in even though the terms and conditions were clear.
So I walked across the hall to the Concorde Room host to explain and ask if he could escort us into the Galleries Lounge. To my surprise, he escorted us into the Concorde Room and said you can just come in here. Fantastic! I wasn’t expecting to visit the CR until my return flight in British Airways First Class.
Since I hadn’t reserved a cabana and the Elemis spa was packed with no available appointments during our layover, we opted for breakfast instead.
I first stopped by the bar to see what they had on offer. Picked up a morning refreshment to enjoy while my English breakfast was being prepeared.
The Rose Champagne was a perfect welcome to the lounge.
The English breakfast hit the spot. The meal came with eggs (scrambled or fried) sausage, bacon, a mushroom, beans and toast. It was delicious!
That’s it for now. I’ll have a more detailed review later.
Bottom Line
I enjoyed the complimentary meal service in the Concorde Room. The service was prompt and the food tasty.
I wondered how you got in the Concorde Room on an AA F ticket.
Glad the gentleman at the CR desk made up for his colleague’s behavior.
I was allowed in on same. Just walked up, played dumb…and they just welcomed me right in. I liked the Concorde Room…. still lean towards LH lounges slightly more…I think.
There is a Concorde breakfast room for arrivals too!
Always nice to start the day with the food you might find in the country you are travelling to and find out how the locals dine!
Although it has been a while, I’ve has similar experiences with BA. In the end *when* BA and their lounges deliver, they do a seriously fine job. The key is getting them to deliver in the first place. Until one is on their side of the door or service, the favorite phrase is, “I’m terribly sorry, but…” Once accepted, the service usually beyond fault.
