***Update as of 9am ET April 22, this offer is now dead***

Hyatt currently has a targeted offer for Microsoft employees which provides an upgrade to Hyatt Platinum Status.

However, it seems that everyone with this link should be able to get their account updated to Hyatt Platinum status.

Normally this status is earned by staying with Hyatt 5 times or 15 nights in a year.

Hyatt Platinum Benefits:

  • Achieve rewards faster with a 15% point bonus when choosing points
  • Enjoy a preferred room including rooms on higher floors or larger rooms, based on availability upon arrival
  • Receive the confirmed bed type at check-in
  • Stay connected with complimentary in-room Internet access
  • Expedite check-in at a dedicated area for elite members
  • Ensure a room is always available with our 72-hour guarantee
  • Extend your stay until 2:00 p.m. with a late check out request
  • Book reservations through an exclusive Platinum line

This promotion also provides a fast track to Diamond Status.

Details of the offer:

Upgrade to Platinum Status
Register to enjoy the premium perks of Hyatt Gold Passport® Platinum membership through February 2015 when staying at Hyatt hotels worldwide. With this exclusive offer, you can experience the premium benefits of Platinum status including a 15% point bonus, complimentary in-room Internet access, 2 p.m. late check-out and more. Whether you’re traveling for business or pleasure, every stay at Hyatt will be even more rewarding.

Additionally, with just 4 stays or 10 nights in 2014 you will maintain Platinum status through February 2016 – that’s 1 fewer stay or 5 fewer nights than normally required to achieve or maintain this elite status.

Fast Track to Diamond
Once you’ve achieved Platinum status, you will be registered to achieve Diamond status even faster. After only 20 stays or 40 nights in 2014, you will be upgraded to Diamond status through February 2016 – that’s 5 fewer stays or 10 fewer nights than normally required to achieve this elite status. You will enjoy elite benefits and rewards including a 30% point bonus, exclusive access to the Regency Club® or Grand Club® lounge, suite upgrade awards and more.

Bottom Line

Be sure to register for this sooner than later as my guess is that this offer will be pulled from the public soon.

  1. Thanks for sharing. Any idea how long it takes for the ‘status’ to change? I’d like to confirm the success 🙂

  2. Done and done! Thanks for this tip as it’s massive!

My GP account is still showing Gold member, so hopefully it will kick in, in a day or two.

  3. Would you need to call in to update already made bookings or can they see you are platinum?

  4. “Be sure to register for this sooner than later as my guess is that this offer will be pulled from the public soon”

As it should be, since the T&C explicitly state the offer is for Microsoft employees.

  5. Still works. Had a fine FREE stay at the Hyatt Honolulu where I was upgraded to the 32nd floor. Next: LA.

  6. @Ryan K,

It shouldn’t. You can’t do a Diamond Challenge WHILE you are Diamond. But it doesn’t matter if you’ve been Diamond previously. In theory you can only do the challenge once though.

  7. Link is dead… but I was able to “register” last night. My account is still reflecting Gold status =(. I hope it applies soon…! Going to PHV in 2 weeks and then Hyatt Place HNL and Andaz Maui in August.. Plat status will def be useful!

  8. Offer worked for me. Registered last night; account upgraded to Platinum this afternoon. Thanks!

  9. Thanks! Got in yesterday and saw this afternoon that status has been upgaded to Plat.

  10. Jumped on this last night. I wasn’t holding out much hope when the link stopped working before my status was upgraded. But, it now shows Plat status as of this afternoon. Thanks for the heads-up!

  11. Worked for me! Perfect as I’m adding the CC on my next round and word on the street is I’ll get two suite upgrades in addition to the two free nights since I’m already Platinum!

Plus I’m booking my parents for a week in June. I think I’ll be Diamond quickly. Glad I hesitated on getting the card.

    Thanks!

  12. Now showing Plat status! Worth going for diamond? 20 stays a lot more tempting than 25.

  13. @HaleyB – Unfortunately I think that Chase/Hyatt stopped offering the 2 suite upgrades – Platinum/2 suite nights – Diamond for new card holders last year. They are offering 2 free standard nights for new cardholders regardless of status.

  14. Received platinum status with this method and logged into my account today and it’s no longer platinum. Anyone else experience this?

  15. Had platinum, but just checked into a Hyatt and told I’m a gold, so no free internet 🙁

  16. @Mike W, I just got an email from Hyatt titled “Important Information about your Membership” that I didn’t qualify and am ineligible to participate, so they are taking away the Platinum status. Ah well, was worth a shot.

  17. I had platinum for a month through this link. I just received an email saying I was not eligible for the promotion and they downgraded my account. Unfortunate timing as I have a 4 night stay in Hawaii starting tomorrow. At least I’m going to Hawaii.

  18. Looks like they reversed this…

“Recently you attempted to register for an exclusive Hyatt Gold Passport promotion for Microsoft employees. Unfortunately you’re ineligible to participate in this promotion, including receiving tier status (please see the terms and conditions of this promotion). We do hope you choose Hyatt for your future stays and enjoy the benefits of Hyatt Gold Passport membership.

If you have any questions or think you received this email in error, please call us at 1-800-544-9288 (in the U.S. or Canada) or at 1-402-593-8625 (outside of the U.S. and Canada). “

  19. I’m bummed I lost the status, but my bigger concern is that I have a booking in my account at the “my elite rate”. It’s still intact at the moment, but it was a pretty good savings so I’m hoping it gets honored.
