I am always intrigued by discounted and targeted offers. So when I got what appeared to be a widely distributed targeted offer for 10% off my entire British Airways purchase, I looked into it to see how promising the offer could be.
After all, British Airways does have flights within the Caribbean, I absolutely loved flying in their First Class 777 product, enjoying a little champagne of their First Class champagne, and the promotional discount is good through the end of the year, so I figured I might be able to use this even if I wasn’t purchasing a Transatlantic ticket.
British Airways Message About 10% Discount
I received this message yesterday about the offer.f

Revised British Airways Message About 10% Discount
But my hopes were shattered today when I received this message. Not that I wasn’t aware I didn’t live in the designated area for the promotion, Bermuda. Or that I don’t have the Butterfield Visa card.
Dear Weekly Flyer,
Due to a technical issue you may have incorrectly received a promotional email earlier today which was not relevant to you. We apologize for this and for any confusion it may have caused.
We are taking all the necessary steps so this kind of error does not happen again and to ensure we get it right next time.
Warm regards,
James Hillier

Bottom Line
If you are a Butterfield British Airways Visa Platinum card member and live in Bermuda, you are in luck. For the rest of us this was just a head fake by British Airways.
Now to find out how I can move to Bermuda and get one of these Butterfield cards…
I got this as well but not the follow up email yet.
