Starwood announced that they have begun their partnership with Design Hotels, and a few Design Hotels have even started to join the SPG program in a limited capacity starting on Monday.
The first five hotels to join are Gramercy Park Hotel, Ten Bompas Hotel, Johannesburg, C-Hotel & Spa, Cassago Brianza, Nira Montana, La Thuile, and Kruisherenhotel Maastricht.
Here are the details of the new SPG partnership with Design Hotels:
A selection of Design Hotels™ is now proudly joining forces with the Starwood Preferred Guest® Program.
For SPG® Members this means the opportunity to experience additional amazing hotels in top destinations – while being recognized and rewarded with SPG benefits unique to Design Hotels™ . Design Hotels™ exhibits a passion for genuine hospitality, cultural authenticity and thought-provoking design and architecture.
SPG Members staying at participating hotels will receive the following benefits:
- 2 Starpoints per eligible US dollar spent (with a 50% bonus for SPG Gold and Platinum members, and 100% bonus for Platinum members with a minimum of 75 Eligible Nights)
- Night and stay credit toward elite status
- On-property benefits of internet access and bottled water in room
- Gold Preferred and Platinum Preferred Members will automatically receive a Starpoints bonus as their Welcome Gift.
Other on-property benefits such as upgrades, late checkout, Your24 or Suite Night Awards will not be available at participating hotels. Free Night redemption is expected to be available early 2016.

Note: Design Hotels™ may not offer the same SPG benefits or brand service standards as other Starwood hotels.
Bottom Line
I’m thrilled to hear about this new partnership and can’t wait for Design Hotels to be fully integrated with Starwood, so SPG members will receive all the same benefits they normally would when staying at a Starwood hotel today.
