If you’re growing tired of Uber and its notorious surge pricing, there are plenty of alternatives in town.
Uber has been in the headlines in recent months – and the news has not been positive. A video recently surfaced of CEO Travis Kalanick having a heated argument with an Uber driver. A former Uber employee wrote a blog post containing harassment allegations when she had worked at the company.
We decided to put together three alternatives to Uber:
- Lyft: You’ve probably heard of Lyft. The initial goal of Lyft was to have every day people driving passengers around as opposed to professional drivers. The idea with Lyft was to have the platform feel less like a chauffeur.
If you are new to Lyft, you can score $50 in Lyft credit towards your first rides!
- Waze Carpool: If you’ve ever used the navigation app Waze, you’ll probably like Waze Carpool.
Here is more information from TechCrunch on some alternative apps.
- Via: Via is also car sharing app. This means that when you request a car, it will pick up other people along the way to your destination. While it will likely take longer to get to where you want to go, the costs on Via are considerably less than if you had used Uber and Lyft and taken a private car. In rare but exciting cases, sometimes the car will pick up no one else and you can travel directly to your destination for the same price!
