Last night Delta flight 414 to Costa Rica was diverted to Tampa because of an unruly couple from Germany. The flight departed from ATL around 6:00 pm and landed in Tampa around 7:30 pm.
Apparently the couple seated in first class were demanding a proper meal and champagne. The pilot made the call to divert after the couple allegedly wouldn’t sit down.
The couple alleged that Delta told them the champagne was all gone and that Delta didn’t appreciate their attitude.
I’ve never flown this route so I can’t say for sure they serve champagne on it, but if Delta does, I find it hard to beleive they would run out by Tampa (which is only an hour flight or so).
No charges were filed and the couple is resting at a Tampa hotel. The couple will need to find alternative transportation to Costa Rica, not on a Delta flight.
Wow, that helps set a new low in terms of passenger behavior. Looks like Alec Baldwin may be off the hook for the worst passenger of the year award.
Delta does not serve champagne on any flight.
@Gene – funny you say that. Most of my 1st class trips on DL are to Sweden and domestic is coach many times. After dinner on my way to SLC to ski last round I asked for a brandy and the FA gave me a patronizing look and said “you fly internationally mostly don’t you?”, and I looked confused and said “yes”. She said, we don’t have anything like that here how about Woodford Reserve? I said yes please that will be fine! 😉
