The MileagePlus Shopping portal is offering 1,000 MileagePlus miles for MileagePlus Credit Card registrations. But you can earn the 1,000 miles even if you don’t have the MileagePlus Credit Card.
The terms and conditions state that “you must register your MileagePlus Credit Card in the MileagePlus Shopping program during the time of this promotion”, but I’ve received first hand reports that 1,000 United Miles are awarded for non-MileagePlus Credit Cards. Hat tip to PMM reader Chris who used the Chase Sapphire Preferred® Card but still received confirmation of 1,000 bonus miles. I also tried this approach and received the same results. So if you are interested in earning a quick 1,000 MileagePlus miles follow the simple steps below before July 31, 2012.
How To Get 1,000 United Miles
- Navigate to the MileagePlus shopping registration page
- Enter your MileagePlus information
- Register your credit card of choice
- Enjoy a free 1,000 United MileagePlus miles

Offer valid thru 7/31/12. To qualify for the 1,000 bonus award miles offer, you must register your MileagePlus Credit Card in the MileagePlus Shopping program during the time of this promotion. The maximum number of bonus miles that can be awarded to each qualifying member through this promotion is 1,000 bonus miles. This bonus offer is available only for members who received an email from MileagePlus Shopping. The bonus award miles will post to your MileagePlus account within 8 to 10 weeks after the promotion end date.
Bottom Line
Your miles may vary with receiving the bonus miles after registering since the terms and conditions clearly state a MileagePlus Credit Card is needed. But if you try another card for yourself, you’ll receive a confirmation of 1,000 bonus miles awarded for your efforts.
