A man sitting in a Business Elite Cabin onboard a Delta flight from Amsterdam to Minneapolis-St. Paul was eating a sandwich and enjoying his flight. During his second bite of the sandwich a needle punchured the roof of his mouth and he is now on anti-HIV medicine.
According to this WSJ article, this is one of four instances where needles were found onboard Delta flights from Amsterdam on Sunday.
Delta released a statement saying Delta “has taken immediate action with our in-flight caterer at Amsterdam to ensure the safety and quality of the food we provide onboard our aircraft.”
The needles were found in sandwhiches from the gate gourmet company. The sandwiches have been removed and replaced with pizzas.
This is now being treated as an FBI investigation.

That’s INSANE! He just became the new owner of Delta and just about everything else involved in that situation.
this is just plain disturbing. I have kids and i think, what if that had been my 4 year old daughter biting into that sandwich?
Scary, but WHY is he on expensive HIV meds… ? They were SEWING needles, not a syringe filled with fresh blood. HIV only lives for minutes outside of the body if not kept within very precise conditions. Get a tetanus shot. Sounds like a lawyer told him to get on those pronto to help his case… *sigh*….
Rightfully so. Anyone in their right mind, would have lawyered up too. Especially most that fly elite.
How does this even happen?!
This makes me really ill. So gross. It’s like something you would see at the beginning of a horror movie. This is the first thing I read when I woke up today. No breakfast for me. LOL.
This article needs to be spel cheked.
Sandwhich? Four times? Spellcheck much.
Dude, it’s spelt sandwich. Great blog otherwise.
I have an idea, why don’t you spelling losers email him privately.
Here is a tip….just because the travel nerd rips the blogger doesn’t make that travel nerd any cooler.
