There is still one full month left for the Hyatt Summer Airline Promo. For those that selected the first earning period (May 1 – July 31) of the SPG Nice Choice promotion like myself, this is a good opportunity to keep earning big value for your summer hotel stays. You start earning the bonus with your second stay. This often overlooked promotion is actually quite lucrative in my book and the promo in which I am focusing all my stays in August.
You can select exactly one of the following airlines to earn your 4x and 5x airline bonuses.
My selection was American Airlines though United Miles were equally tempting. As a Diamond member, make sure you are also receiving your Diamond points amenity when your airline miles post. From experience, Hyatt forgets to include these points often.
I plan to complete all my stays at the Park Hyatt Washington in the Ambassador Suite.
OK just kidding. All my other reservations are at a Hyatt Place. Happy Hyatt Place hotel hopping!
I’ve been utilizing this promotion since it came out, as I stay at Hyatt’s regularly.
They still haven’t figured out how to do a good job assigning miles instead of points. At the first 4 Hyatt Place’s I stayed at during this promo, all four failed to change my profile to correctly assign me miles.
If this happens to you, call or email Hyatt customer service and they should take care of it with just one email.
If you are staying at a regular Hyatt, they typically do not have any problems, but it seems that the Hyatt Place hotels are very unfamiliar with how to change from points to miles.
Ha that Park Hyatt Washington looks sick though!
@Brent – Agreed. I don’t even bother asking them to post to miles when I check in anymore. My success rate at Hyatt Place is around 5% when I ask. I store up 4 or 5 stays and have one agent on the phone do it all at once.
@Atlanta CPA – The Ambassador Suite can best be described as ‘Ca$h Money’. Stay tuned for the hotel review.
@alex – glad to hear I’m not alone.
Hyatt customer service also told me they would change my profile to give me AA miles for all stays, which I thought would solve the problem. After my next stay, again I got points instead of miles, so I concluded that no one at Hyatt has a clue how their system works and I just request miles after every few stays as you said.
I’m going to have to keep an eye on my Diamond bonuses to make sure they post. I just made my first stay as a Diamond member last night, so I will watch for it.
Thanks for share. Great blog.
@Brent – Congrats on Diamond! The same IT system that is a total nuisance for properly crediting your miles is actually a points generator for collecting Diamond amenity Hyatt points. The Hyatt policy is such that if you have to call in because the Diamond points amenity did not post (which is often!), you are entitled to 1.5X the bonus. 750 points at Hyatt Place and 1500 at full service Hyatt.
