Points, Miles & Martinis is happy to bring you this in-flight Belgian-style beer happy hour from seat 1D onboard Delta’s MD 88. This is quite an improvement from my seat last week.
Like us, you may decide to fly Delta’s new lie flat Business Class to Brussels in order to try some of the best Belgium beers for yourself. Instead, you can pick up a domestic Delta flight, order a Belgian-style beer, and sit back to enjoy the flight.
The happy hour trail this week was blazed by seat 1A. As I boarded the MD 88, the flight attendant poured Mr 1A a cup of this Belgian-style wheat ale and topped it with an orange.
Being from Florida where you grow up loving oranges, and having just returned from Brussels on the Air France A380, I couldn’t resist ordering a Blue Moon for myself.
The flood gates opened once my wheat ale was delivered. Mrs 1B followed next with the Belgian-style booze theme. Not but a few minutes later, we were joined by Mr 1C as he followed our lead.
The only downside was we ran out of Blue Moon beer after the second round. Not to worry, all four of us followed it up with a glass of Heineken
Bottom Line
If you are looking for a good beer, look around on your next flight, you may be surprised what you find.

It can only be Woodford.
I saw Blue Moon on a Delta flight a few days ago and was pleasantly surprised. I agree, Blue Moon is a pretty good beer…….I enjoy it on occasion. But most Americans are not aware that it is neither a foreign beer nor made by a microbrewery. It is fact made by Coors, who merged with our friends from Canada…….Molson, in 2005. Coors also makes Killian’s. Some useless beer info to mull on while you enjoy a cold one on your next flight.
Excellent choice. If I can’t find any true belgian beer, I fall back to blue moon as a back up most times.
