Mrs Weekly Flyer recently applied for and was approved for a 100,000 Membership Reward bonus with the Platinum American Express card. One of the most useful benefits has been the $100 credit to use for her Global Entry application. Once approved for Global Entry and the $100 fee is paid, users will have Global Entry active status for five years. Below are some thoughts from Mrs Weekly Flyer herself sharing her experience with the Global Entry application and interview process in Atlanta.

Global Entry Experience

I received the $100 credit to apply for the Global Entry program from my new Amex Platinum card…so the program is free for 5 yrs! Sweet!

The directions said go to the new F terminal at Atlanta International airport.

I went to the domestic terminal and had a heck of a time getting thru – they did let me go thru security after talking to a supervisor who had a list of appointments for the day….

I answered a few questions and then I was on my way. Questions like do you travel on business or pleasure mostly and have you ever been arrested, etc.

I was approved on the spot and ready to use Global Entry right away.

On the way back from international terminal (global entry office) they would not let me go thru security, had to take a shuttle back to domestic side.

Bottom Line

There you have it, a first hand experience of getting the Global Entry program through the Platinum American Express.

Since I already had the Global Entry, now we’ll both get to use the program when we return from international trips.

  1. You can also g to other CBP office in Atlanta, near the airport but not in it, so you don’t have to pay for parking, go through security, etc. Wife her Global Entry interview there a couple of months ago and was in and out in about 15 minutes. The appointment was also made just the day before, so they had plenty of availability on their calendar.
