Two (2) winners will be chosen in a random drawing on Monday, October 8, 2012 from all eligible entries received during the Giveaway Period, as posted in the comments section of participating BoardingArea.com partnering blogs. Don’t worry if you feel overwhelmed at first! Its like learning a new skill and takes time. Just like learning something new, you have to do a lot of reading and gaining knowledge on the subject, which is learning how to travel for free.
Try to use credit cards to pay for virtually every purchase, and make sure that you receive miles/points for every flight or hotel stay.
You can’t get the points if you aren’t signed up for a loyalty program.
Keep an eye open for good credit card sign up bonuses through Boarding Area blogs. Then organize them using a program like AwardWallet.
Five years is a long time. But, pessimisim aside, we are all going to keep finding ways to travel the world through incredible deals. Especially by communicating great finds instantly throughout our unique, if diverse and sometimes fragmented, community. Its always going to be too hard for the average traveller to follow this fastinating pursuit.
Sign up for any free bonus in any program. You never know when a program merges(i.e. Conti and UAL,NWA and DAL)and those insignificant points or miles add to a balance.

Use your airline credit card for all purchases large and small. Take advantage of as many bonuses as you can!
Read the bloggers on boarding area!!
Sign up for every program and read the blogs!
Lean about credit card bonuses.
Dump all your points into a single account. 80k miles in one spot is way better than 20k in 4 different spots.
Lounge Access of course
Get a frequent flyer credit card!
Read and research, keep aware of what is available to get the best deals/use of miles, etc.
Focus on one airline and one hotel chain – status is all important
Start off with some credit card bonuses to get the ball rolling. Nothing is worse than looking at a goose egg and thinking you have a huge amount of work to do.
Always monitor your credit score and keep it high. Without a high credit score, you’ll never be able to open up the credit cards you want and since they are the easiest way to earn huge chunks of miles, you’re shooting yourself in the foot if your credit score is too low.
If your score is low and you raise it to the level you need, DON’T let it drop back down. Getting it up may take work, but if you don’t keep it there, its all for naught.
No amount of earning is too small. Sign up for all the programs and participate in as many promos as possible. Little bits of points and miles really add up over time.
Follow a few blogs and with those tips, find a few cards offering generous bonus miles for signing up. They will add up quickly, especially if you coordinate programs well.
Spend a weekend and read flyertalk, flyerguide, and milepoint. Get a good foundation of knowledge so that you know what opportunities to maximize and which to ignore.
Always sign up for points even if you think you’ll never earn points from that service again. you never know and the missed points might be what you need for a freebee
Read Milepoint.com
Browse some of the blogs, pick a few active ones that you like, and read them frequently.
Its the thrill of getting (possible) access to extra perquisites of travel and stays which you weren’t aware existed and you suddenly discover that they do. That makes it a quest, a treasure hunt, never mind the ultimate outcome..
Follow all the tips on the BoardingArea blogs!
Start by reading just one or two blogs that most pertain to what your travel style is, AND TAKE NOTES. There is so much information, it’s easy to forget/lose track of nuggets as you skim thru.
Use AwardWallet and read blogs!
I am an x B727 pilot , and would love to fly the B787 and take a look at the cockpit to see how much things changed.
Sign up for all loyalty programs with which you come into contact.
Get on the forums and blogs and start reading up. Also, know what you want to get out of your points- trips? upgrades? more tickets so you can take more people? etc.
Decide which airline/hotel/car program that is best for the new traveller. I live near an airport with a fairly decent AA presence, so my airline accrual program is AA.
Keep checking for availability as you never know when something opens up
be thoughtful about your mileage goals…avoid wasting your time chasing unreasonable redemptions or spending more for points than they’re worth
I’m so boring I bet I can put Randy to sleep!
don’t let your miles expire or go to waste. And use them before the airline devalues them: it’s as inevitable as death and taxes.
don’t hold your miles too long.
First find a mentor and then get a plan for success.
Read the blogs. They’re much better for newbies than FT or MP, but you can move up to them later!
This is a heavy initial learning investment, but it becomes a lot easier down the road.
scan the posts on milepoint and flyertalk and read all the blogs on Boarding Area.
read boardingarea.com

Awardwallet.com – ask someone with a membership (even me, I have 9 more) if you’d like a coupon code to extend your membership.
I recommend EvReward.com for buying stuff on line!
Try to get some sleep in between reading all the blogs, all the FT posts, and Milepoint!
