On May 16, Lufthansa will launch new daily nonstop service from Vancouver to Munich.
LH 476 Munich 15:30 hrs – Vancouver 17:05 hrs
LH 477 Vancouver 18:45 hrs – Munich 14:00 hrs (+1 day)
This flight will be served by an A330-300 based in Munich which means Vancouver flyers now have the ability to fly on an aircraft with Lufthansa’s new First Class seats. The flyertalk thread with configuration data can be found here. Currently all 6 MUC-based A330’s have the new First Class and 3 have the new Business Class as well.
New First Class is better than…..
…Old First Class.
Availability
An initial look at availability doesn’t reveal much. I don’t see any First Class available as of now and decent Business Class for two people over the next couple months however I expect this will change based on the season. As a reminder, Lufthansa First Class is only released to partners 15 days out though one can time the release down to the hour as discussed here.
The bottom line
Availability on Lufthansa First Class from the west coast is quite competitive especially on aircraft with Lufthansa new First Class so this is a welcome addition. Lufthansa First Class is a phenomenal experience so if you can handle the risk of booking the award in close, you are in for a special treat.
enjoy F while one can … this is one of the routes rumored to downgrade to 2-class plane once LH begins the F trimming exercise
@jack – Lufthansa mentioned cutting First Class from A340s (and 747s) in 2014 which serve the Vancouver-Frankfurt route however I wouldn’t anticipate the newly refurbished A330s on this route would be on the chopping block.
Yes, so excited for this service! And the VS seasonal one too!
Remember that this is seasonal also – until Oct 5th only. So no need to cut out F as it is usually pretty full in the summer months and this flight won’t be available in winter.
