Per The Flight Deal, Delta is offering some amazing deals right now to Hawaii from Oakland and San Jose. They are offering flight to Maui for $209 round-trip. These flights seem to be available for most dates in November and December.
However, the deal gets even better as these book into Delta’s K class which means you can either use miles to upgrade to First Class, or if you’re a Platinum or Diamond Medallion, you’re able to use Systemwide Upgrades. To use miles it would be 15,000 SkyMiles each way.
Normally when they offer cheap fares to Hawaii, they always book in the cheapest fare classes, so having these book into K class is amazing. This deal won’t last long, so if you’re interested book ASAP. With Delta, you’re allowed to cancel within 24 hours under their risk free cancellation policy, so don’t let this opportunity pass you buy.
Getting to Oakland is relatively easy on Southwest Airlines. Southwest flies to Oakland, from: Albuquerque, Austin, Boise, Burbank, Chicago-Midway, Denver, Houston-Hobby, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, Ontario, Orange County, Phoenix, Portland, Salt Lake City, San Diego, Seattle/Tacoma, and Spokane.
One option would be to use Rapid Rewards points for you’re positioning flights to/from Oakland which transfer from Chase Ultimate Rewards to Southwest at a 1:1 ratio.
Foe the Delta flights, you would be earning 5972 MQM’s and 5972 SkyMiles which comes out to 3.49 cents per mile.
Please feel free to comment if you find anymore dates or cities that this is available from.

Thanks for the heads up. I just jumped on it for early February. Can I use my sky pesos to upgrade now or do I have to wait until closer to departure?
@Eric, Yes, you can use them now. There must be upgrade space available, however if there isn’t they should be able to wait-list you.
Can we post the miles to Alaska Airlines instead of Delta? Thanks!
@gymrat, Yes you can credit to Alaska Airlines instead of Delta!
Of course they don’t fly direct from OAK or SJC, so you have to either go a long way round (say through SLC) or fly on one of those CRJs to LAX – a deal-breaker for me. I’d rather go with Alaskan for a bit more.
