Now through January 31, 2014, American Express is offering a 40% transfer bonus when you transfer American Express Membership Rewards to Hilton HHonors.
Normally American Express points transfer to Hilton at a 1:1.5 ratio, so with this bonus it comes up to 1:2 ratio. As a reminder, you can normally transfer American Express points to Virgin Atlantic at a 1:1 ratio and then to Hilton HHonors at 1:2 ratio meaning you would be getting a 1:2 ratio, however this promotion saves you the trouble of having to go through Virgin Atlantic.
If you’re asking yourself whether or not to transfer your American Express Membership Rewards points to Hilton, I would advise only doing it if you had a specific redemption in mind.
Some examples of some Hilton HHonors redemptions include:
Arizona Biltmore: 50,000 points (25,000 Amex points through this offer)
Waldorf Astoria Park City: 80,000 points (45,000 Amex points through this offer)
Hilton Bellevue: 30,000 points (15,000 Amex points through this offer)
Conrad Miami: 50,000 points (25,000 Amex points through this offer)
Bottom Line
I wouldn’t just transfer American Express points to Hilton HHonors without a specific redemption in mind, however the 33% transfer bonus is nice and it would be nice if we see more Amex transfer bonuses this month.

I would transfer to HH and then transfer to Aeroplan for the bonus and book a trip to SE Asia (before the devaluation).
