There are many reasons why I’ve had the US Airways Premier World MasterCard in my wallet for the last several years. The card often comes with bonus airline miles for spending money at certain merchants or simply meeting a spending threshold during a certain period.
The most recent offer is 5x points at certain merchants from January 1, 2014 through March 31, 2014. I look at this as an opportunity to earn 5x bonus AA miles since the AAdvantage and US Airways Dividend miles programs will likely merge in the very near future. Ideally once the programs are merged, I’ll then be able to get 10% miles off my miles since I have the Citi® Platinum Select® / AAdvantage® World Signature® Card which offers its members 10% off redemptions (up to 10,000 miles).
Promotion Details
US Airways Premier World MasterCard cardmembers can earn 5x bonus miles (up to 2,500) from January 1, 2014 through March 31, 2014 for spending their card at the following locations:
- Grocery store purchases
- Movie Theater Purchases
- Utility Payments
You must activate the promotion by January 20, 2014 to be eligible for the bonus miles.
Terms And Conditions
This bonus offer is for select US Airways Dividend Miles MasterCard cardmembers and is not transferable. Qualified cardmembers who activate by January 20, 2014, will earn 5 bonus miles for every one dollar ($1) in new purchase(s) at grocery stores, movie theaters, and utility, cable/satellite TV or telephone companies (that are not later returned or rescinded) that post to their account between January 1, 2014, and March 31, 2014, up to a maximum of 2,500 bonus miles. Eligible grocery store purchases, movie theater purchases and utility, cable/satellite TV or telephone company purchases are defined by merchant category codes. Each merchant designates a category code to assign to purchases at its establishment. Although most grocery store purchases, movie theater purchases and utility, cable/satellite TV or telephone company purchases will use merchant category codes selected for this offer, it is possible that some grocery store, movie theater and utility, cable/satellite TV or telephone companies have designated a merchant category code that is not classified as a grocery store, movie theater, utility, cable/satellite TV or telephone company and therefore any purchases made will not qualify for the promotion. To be eligible for this offer, the cardmember’s account must be open and in good standing and they must have activated this promotion by January 20, 2014. Purchases made during periods when the cardmember’s account is delinquent, their balance exceeds their credit line or their account is otherwise not in good standing do not qualify for this offer. The bonus miles will appear on the cardmember’s statement up to 6-8 weeks after the end of the promotion.
Bottom Line
If you have the US Airways card, make sure you activate this promotion, even if you don’t anticipate spending money at one of the bonus categories.

Seems like for select cardholders only. Is there I link I can try with my card?
T&C’s state select cardholders. I’ll keep an eye out unless there’s a link to indicate whether or not you’re targeted.
I did not get this ;( but got one for my miles & more card
I didn’t get this one, but got the always-popular 15k bonus for $750 spend in each of Jan-Feb-Mar. I wouldn’t have kept this card so long if not for these regular bonus offers.
Mine was 2x, but otherwise, all the same limits/categories
I got this email, but mine is only TWO times bonus points 🙁 Not fair!
Wife got it, I didn’t. Certainly looks like you can manipulate the URL to apply it to a different account… I wonder if that would work?
Seems easy enough to max out. Just putting PG&E bills on the card will get us to $500 spend. Don’t even have to put the card in my/her wallet.
Only 2x for me as well. I’d still rather have the 2x at grocery stores using US Bank Flexperks.
I got the 5x offer for q4 (gas restaurants) and maxed out but my offer for Q1 was only 2x. No thanks. 🙁
