Just a quick reminder that American Express is having a offering a 30% transfer bonus through April 30, when transferring American Express Membership Rewards to Virgin America Elevate Points.
Virgin America awards are based on the price that the airline is selling revenue tickets for, so because they are offering fixed value redemptions when using your American Express Membership Rewards points. This bonus is hard-coded so there is no need to register.
Membership Rewards normally transfer to Virgin America at 200 Amex points to 100 Elevate points, but with this promotion you’ll receive 130 Elevate points per each 200 Membership Rewards points.
For a sample one-way flight from New York- Los Angeles, Virgin America was asking for 8,152 Elevate points.
With this promotion, you would need 12,600 American Express points for a one-way transcon JFK-LAX flight, since the ratio with this bonus is 200 Membership Rewards Points transfers to 130 Elevate Points.
This 30% bonus is pretty lackluster in my opinion, so I would only do it if you needed the extra Virgin America Elevate points to book an upcoming flight.
Bonus Details:
- Get 30% more Elevate points when you transfer Membership Rewards® points to your Virgin America Elevate account by 4/30/2014. Terms apply.
