Bottom Line
I’m not one to normally go eat at a Starwood restaurant if not staying at the property, but if you do happen to be staying at a hotel and plan on spending over $50 for a meal, you might as well register for this.
Overall though, I think this a meager offer on Starwood’s part. What are your thoughts?
I know this is a rather rudimentary question, but despite having stayed at many Starwood properties, I’m not sure I’ve ever eaten at one of their restaurants before when I wasn’t charging the meal to my room.
So my question is: if you’re eating at the restaurant but not staying at the hotel, how on earth do they know you’re an SPG member? Before paying the bill, do you give them your SPG card? Is there a place to write your number on the receipt? Thanks in advance.
The only SPG restaurant I actually frequent is Urban, the restaurant at the Westin in the Domain in Austin, TX. They locally source ingredients, have decent comparable prices for the Domain area, have a great bar and patio and are generally easy to get into/out of.
As for “how to SPG,” two things: let them know you’re a member (some restaurants give discounts as part of an SPG program) and ask for a credit slip to put your SPG number on. Points generally post within 48 hours. Very seamless.
