Just a week after both Southwest Airlines and Frontier Airlines revealed their new livery, Spirit Airlines showed off its new look yesterday. Warning: it is very yellow!
This is the Spirit’s fifth livery since the airline started in 1980. The airline said that it went with this livery because “the simple, two-color design is much more cost-effective than more complex, multi-colored designs.”
Spirit’s fleet of 35 Airbus airplanes – 26 A319s, 7 A320s, 2 A321s – will take 2-3 years to repaint the fleet, and the paint will be updated only when the airplane is due for new paint. Spirit plans to have 7 painted yellow by then end of the year, and new deliveries will be yellow as well.
Bottom Line:
Spirit is daring to be different, but why does the new color scheme and logo remind me of the cellular carrier Sprint?
