I’m turning into quite the Hyatt junkie. I also love my Chase Ultimate Rewards points. So how did using my Ink Plus® Business Card get me a $3,000-a-night Diplomatic Suite at the Park Hyatt in Abu Dhabi?
Using a Points + Cash stay from Hyatt, I booked a room for 3 nights at the Park Hyatt Abu Dhabi – a Hyatt Category 5 – at 10,000 Hyatt Gold Passport points + $125 cash per night.
- The suite upgrade – well, that part is just a little more unbelievable. We were checking in as a Diamond guest. The confirmation was for a Park King Suite. When we arrived at the front desk, the agent was cordial and told us that we were going to receive an upgrade. I figured it would be a Suit with a better view – never expecting a Diplomatic Suite … the second nicest suite below the Presidential Suite.
How To Use Chase Points
The points can be transferred to loyalty partners, and if you don’t know how to do that, just see my “How To Transfer Chase Ultimate Rewards To Travel Partners” for a step by step process. Of course, I chose Hyatt!
Bottom Line
This is one of those situations that is just unreal – receiving an amazing amount of points from Chase for applying for a credit card and meeting the minimum spend, and then transferring them to the amazing Hyatt hotel chain, and then landing the ‘big fish’ suite upgrade. I’ll post a room report on my Diplomatic Suite (with lots of pictures) soon … stay tuned!
I’m interested in hearing more about the suite at the Hyatt but this post contains a single bullet point about the hotel stay
While I wish that I got the 70,000 point Chase Ink offer, I had to settle for the 50,000 point offer a couple of months ago and I referenced that in my post. And I stand by my 70,000 point offer post, because I think that it is a *spectacular* deal in light of me only receiving 50,000 points. I am merely pointing out the possibilities!
@dan
lol. doesnt look good does it
This is a fantastic hotel. It was a little rough around the edges when I first checked in. Did have some personal and medical issues come up during my stay, but one of the managers Pablo was an All-Star, as were Kitty and Putu in the restaurant. You will be in great hands with both of them.
So, what is the big deal? Did you fly all the way to Abu Dhabi to spend time in the hotel room? This is something I don’t get from bloggers. You all need to get suite upgrades, amazing rooms, etc… to brag about it. Who cares? As long I get a decent room in the Park Hyatt I will have access to the same services you will in a suite. I will be in my room to take a shower and sleep so as long as the quality is there for bathroom and bed I could care less if it was a suite or not. I would be out of my room most of the time enjoying the city or by the hotel pool so the room would not make a difference.
@Wllington – comment well taken. And you know what – some people enjoy flying to Orlando every year to visit Walt Disney World. Some people enjoy flying to Hawaii every year to visit their favorite beach and favorite hotel. I am lucky enough to visit the UAE for the 3rd time in 2 years, and I am enjoy this city and this hotel. On my first visit, I was wowed by a standard room – enough that it made me want to come back! I didn’t ask for all of this … but grateful to have it.
