If you haven’t done so already, please activate the Q4 Chase Freedom categories. Just in time for the holiday shopping season, Chase has given us the best possible category of department stores, Amazon.com and Zappos.com from October 1-December 31, 2014! During this period, registered cardholders will receive 5% cash back on all purchases at department stores, including the biggest ones like Dillard’s Macy’s and Nordstrom, and Amazon.com. Here is a list of all participating department stores.

If you don’t already have the Chase Freedom® card you might want to consider it. Mrs. WeeklyFlyer has been a long time cardholder and loves this card because there is no fee! Also, she gets the benefit of Chase points which are easy to convert and have good value. For a limited time, you can earn a $200 Bonus after you spend $500 on purchases in your first 3 months from account opening.

Last year, Chase Freedom card had department stores as well and Mrs. WeeklyFlyer made sure to maximize on the 5% cash back!

This promotion is perfect for holiday shopping, as you will likely be purchasing many gifts for Christmas. If you aren’t planning on spending that much like us however, you may want to consider this option. The promotion will allow for 5% cash back on up to $1,500 in category purchases, so if you don’t plan to spend the $1,500 between October 1 – December 31, 2014 then you could buy some department store gift cards!

Likely, you have a favorite department store or maybe you order from Amazon.com a lot. You could maximize on this offer by purchasing gift cards to use throughout the year to get the full 5% on $1,500 in purchases. This way you can spend the gift cards later on and still reap the 5% in rewards which amounts to $75 per quarter!

Bottom Line

The Chase Freedom® card is a nice one to keep in your wallet. The registering for the categories is not bad when you consider how broad a lot of the categories are. I for one think that it is really great that the Q4 categories are so useful this time of year! Considering how many gifts that we want to buy for Baby WeeklyFlyer, this is going to be awesome! Happy Shopping and Happy Holidays!
