A US Airways Airbus A330 Philadelphia bound plane from Israel diverted to Rome, Italy after all ten flight attendants and four pilots started suffering from red eyes and nausea.
Per NBC News, Two passengers and 14 crew members were given medical treatment after a U.S. Airways flight to Philadelphia from Israel made an emergency landing in Rome the airline said. Among the crew, three flight attendants were taken by ambulance to a clinic at Rome’s Fiumicino Airport after the Airbus A330 made an “unscheduled landing” following reports of an odor in the cabin, said Martha Thomas, a spokeswoman for American Airlines, which last year merged with U.S. Airways. The others were treated at the same clinic and all were released.
“The aircraft landed safely and all passengers were re-accommodated on other flights,” Thomas said, adding that engineers were evaluating the twin-engine to find out what happened. The flight, US797, took off from Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion airport late Friday and was carrying 129 passengers and 14 crew comprising 10 flight attendants and four pilots.
An AFP agency report said the crew and passengers were suffering from red eyes and nausea.
Bottom Line
This isn’t the first time that a US Airways plane had diverted due to a sick crew. You may recall a few months ago that one of their planes from Venice to Philadelphia had to divert to Dublin, after nine of the flight attendants got sick during the flight.
What do you think could of caused the flight attendants to get sick so early in the flight?
Philadelphia is the key to the mystery. Philly has a history of union job actions so is first suspect it’s all a bunch of spoiled employees feeling slighted over God knows what.
An unrelated question is the passenger count. 129 passengers on a flight from tel aviv to philly on a a330 that has 252 total seats. Seems like they may be having some difficulty filling this route.
They didn’t all have fish for dinner?
How can Philly be the problem when the destination was Philadelphia it was not the originating location. Bring from Philadelphia I have never experienced any travel issues that are Union related. The only problem we frequently have is slow luggage delivery for USAirways.
Should have called in Ted Striker. He’s the only man who could have landed that plane in Philly…
As for why the crew is falling sick… Well… Not a lot of information to go on here… You may as well as a Magic 8-ball… Or a chicken
Just read this . Apparently, passengers were sick too .
