Per Delta Points, Delta is taking away Platinum Medallion upgrades on Transon routes between New York (JFK) and Los Angeles and San Francisco for Platinum Medallions. This means that the only people who will be added to the upgrade list on these routes will be Diamond Medallions on paid fare with no companions in the reservation.
Delta Negative Transcon Upgrade Devaluation for Platinums Medallions
Bottom Line
Delta is really devaluing their “loyal Medallions”. If you are a Platinum Medallion consider yourself no long a high value customer, as you’ll no longer be getting upgrades on transcons.
In other news however, Delta is downgrading their New York-Seattle flights to regular domestic planes (think 737’s) and because of this they are bringing back Medallion upgrades on this route. I don’t think this is anything special, but it’s worth mentioning.
That sucks. Pretty soon we will have to wait until 72 hours before to get economy comfort seats like gold medallions..
What a huge “F” You to us PM.
Honestly, did anyone not see this coming? I mean, after all, technically Delta took this away a year or so ago. It’s only unofficially been giving upgrades to platinum and diamond elites since then. Plus, I don’t see the big-deal, unless you’re on a red-eye and want to sleep. It’s only affecting a very small number of Delta elites in California and New York. I will continue flying, if I fly Delta, out of Flint or Detroit, which no business-elite class of service that Delta passengers en route to S.F.O. or L.A.X. from J.F.K. received.
