As a reminder, Starwood Preferred Guest is rolling free internet to all SPG members which include SPG Preferred, Gold, and Platinum members. Even better, SPG Gold and Platinum members receive complimentary premium internet at all SPG properties.

SPG Platinum members have always received complimentary internet and SPG Gold members had been able to select free internet as a welcome amenity choice at check-in, but since it’s now free SPG Gold members can choose the bonus points or bonus Starpoints. It will be interesting to see if Starwood rolls out another choice for SPG Gold members as a welcome amenity-stay tuned!

An active SPG Member who books an Eligible Rate for a Stay at an SPG Participating Hotel through a Starwood Website or an SPG App directly or through a travel professional will receive complimentary in-room Internet access during his/her Stay at the SPG Participating Hotel.

When will the complimentary in-room Internet access start being provided to SPG Members?

Beginning February 2, 2015, an SPG Member who has a Stay at an SPG Participating Hotel on an Eligible Rate that was booked through a Starwood Website or an SPG App will receive complimentary in-room Internet access during his/her Stay.

What booking channels must I use to receive complimentary in-room Internet access?

Complimentary in-room Internet access is only available for Stays booked by SPG Members at SPG Participating Hotels through Starwood Websites (currently starwoodhotels.com, spg.com, stregis.com, theluxurycollection.com, whotels.com, lemeridien.com, fourpoints.com, aloft.com, element.com, sheraton.com, and westin.com) and SPG Apps (both iPhone and Android versions).

Soon, offering free internet for all customers staying at a  hotel will be like offering customers free color TV. Quite frankly, I’m surprised it’s taken this long for hotels to roll this out, but am happy that it’s finally launched!
