Starwoods announcement also included the following statement, “Please note that Category adjustments are always subject to change. While we make every attempt to provide you the latest, most accurate information, adjustments may be made before or after the category change date, March 10, 2015.”

Le Méridien Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok Golf Resort & Spa increasing from a Category 2 to a Category 3
W Bangkok remaining a Category 4 (not sure what it was reported to be changing to initially)

Aloft Buffalo Airport dropping from a Category 3 to a Category 2
Aloft Tampa Downtown dropping from a Category 4 to a Category 3

Bottom Line

While this SPG change has already happened, now you have the opportunity to book at the lower rate for hotels that went down in category. If you already had a reservation at the higher rate, make sure to call and cancel and rebook your reservation if you have to to get your points back.
