There’s big news from Amazon today as reported by CNN Money,
Big Change From Amazon – Free Shipping
“Amazon announced, on its online forum for sellers, that customers will get no-cost shipping when they order small items weighing less than 8 ounces and priced less than $10.
The free shipping would be available for Prime and non-Prime customers, too. Amazon had previously allowed free delivery only for Prime members (who pay $99 a year) or for customers ordering at least $35 worth of product.”
With this change, now you can buy small items weighing less than 8 ounces and priced less than $10 with free shipping and you can get free shipping over $35 from Amazon, without a Prime membership.
Bottom Line
This is awesome news for people who don’t have Prime. What do you think about this? I personally have a Prime membership which I have really enjoyed for just this reason, need a $4 box of nails? Have them shipped for free with Prime.
Now, that Amazon will be shipping small inexpensive items for free without a Prime membership, I am not convinced that I need a $99 Prime membership. What about you?

I will keep my Prime, I place over 150 orders a year and most are heavy, some 70 pounds or more requiring a common carrier to deliver and still free. I love it. Dog food arrives at the front door and now with Pantry I don’t even have to go for groceries. Of course town is 90 miles away…..
Sorry to break it to ya, but that $4 box of nails is gonna weigh more than 8oz, so it won’t ship free under this new program.
I dropped my Prime after my trial offer expired. I found that the majority of the items I was buying did not qualify for Prime shipping. It was not worth it to me to purchase Prime when only about 2 out of 5 purchases qualified for free shipping.
